QMetar AA - Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026
QMetar AA is an Android app that shows aviation weather reports (METAR and TAF) for airfields you choose, on the car screen with Android Auto and on the phone, with airport data on the phone.
Data we collect
None. QMetar AA does not collect, store on any server, sell or share any personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It does not use your location.
Data stored on your phone
The app keeps on your phone only: the list of airports, your settings, the last downloaded weather reports, what you have already seen of them (to mark what has changed), and the airport data downloaded from openAIP (name, position, elevation, runways and frequencies). They never leave the phone and are deleted when you uninstall the app.
Network access
The app gets its data from two public services:
- aviationweather.gov, of the U.S. National Weather Service, for weather reports. It receives the codes of your airports. For airfields without a weather report, it also receives an area around the airfield's published position, to find the nearest station that has one.
- openAIP, for airport data (name, position, elevation, runways and frequencies): for airfields without a weather report, and when you open an airport's data on the phone. It receives the code of the airport.
Like any web request, these services receive your IP address; their own privacy policies apply. No other information is sent.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this same address.
